Yusuf bin Abdi Allah bin Muhammad bin Abd al-Barr was born in 368 Hijri in Qurtubah (Cordoba, Spain). Imam Ibn Abd al-Barr was a prolific writer. Writing works on the Quranic sciences, Hadith sciences, Maliki Fiqh, Aqeedah, Seerah and many other subjects.
He is often cited in works of Hadith commentary by scholars of various schools. Thus, his influence has not been limited to the Maliki Madhab. Imam Ibn Hajr al-Asqalani often mentions him in his celebrated work on the Sahabah, al-Isabah. He passed away 463 Hijiri at the age of 95.
