Abu Jafar Ahmad bin Muhammad al-Tahaawi was born in 239 (Hijri) in Tahaa, Egypt. He is one of the greatest scholars of the Hanafi Madhab.

As well as writing extensively in the field of Fiqh (jurisprudence), he produced celebrated works in the field of Hadith. As for his renowned Aqeedah text, often referred to as Aqeedah Tahawiyah, it is studied throughout the world.

Imam al-Tahaawi was originally a follower of the Shafi Madhab and then switched to the Hanafi school. This demonstrates the broadmindedness of the Imams of Ahl al-Sunnah. How they were willing to change their views if they became more convinced of another opinion or methodology.

Imam al-Tahaawi passed away 321 Hijri, aged 83.
