Imam Zufar bin al-Hudhayl was born 110 Hijri and became one of Imam Abu Hanifah’s most highly regarded students. He is often referred to as the fourth Imam within the Hanafi Madhab. This is because his legal positions are often mentioned after the other three Imams.
Sometimes Imam Zufr’s opinion is given preference even when he goes against all three Imams. This is a rare feature of the Hanafi Madhab. The Imam passed away 158H only eight years after his great teacher Abu Hanifah.
