Is the Hadith “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.” authentic?

In his book, Qimatuz Zaman ‘indal ‘Ulama (Edition 13, p57), Shaykh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah states that this narration is not a statement of the Prophet ﷺ rather it is a statement of people (scholars). He went on to say, although the meaning may be true it is not permitted to attribute words to the Prophet ﷺ that we cannot establish he said. He further clarified that as a Prophetic Hadith, this is considered as a fabrication.
